OUR MISSION

To help student-athletes become young adults and adult women of character, who demonstrate respect, responsibility and integrity; who will actively engage in their communities to have a positive impact on as many lives as possible through hard work, commitment and empathy towards others. Our goal is to leave the course, team, and program better than when we found them.

Practices and Schedules

Practices will be Monday - Thursday after school at Baker National Golf Course starting promptly at 2:55 p.m.

The only events that take place on Fridays may be non-conference invitational meets for Varsity only.

Meet the Coaches

Ron Weber, Head Coach
ron.weber@orono.k12.mn.us
Coach Weber played varsity golf for four years at Benilde-St. Margaret’s and served as captain his senior year. He graduated from the U of M on an Evans scholarship, which is sponsored by the Western Golf Association. He has played competitive amateur golf for over 30 years. A fun highlight was three appearances in the finals of the Remax World Long Drive Championship. He has mentored and coached youth golfers at Rush Creek Golf Course for four years. In addition, he has given private lessons to all skill levels for 25 years. Since retirement from the office products industry, he has spent summers working in the golf shop and serving as a starter at Woodhill Country Club and is currently at Windsong Golf Club.

Jackie Johnson, JV Coach
With over 11 years of coaching experience and a passion for developing athletes, Jackie Johnson is a highly accomplished PGA Head Professional and Certified Level 4 Master Fitter at 2nd Swing. She has a wealth of coaching experience at the high school level, having served as the Head Golf Coach and Head Hockey Coach for 7 years in Minnesota. A standout athlete in her own right, Jackie played Division I golf at North Dakota State University (NDSU) and was also a competitive hockey player at the collegiate level, where her athletic background enriches her coaching philosophy. Jackie also runs and owns a golf teaching academy called Be Elite Golf in Plymouth.

High School Booster Club

The OHS Golf Booster Club is organized exclusively for charitable purposes, more specifically to support the boy's and girls' high school golf team members and coaches and help provide resources that enrich the boys' and girls' experience, skill and leadership development to further prepare them for the future as adults.

Golf Ball Fundraiser Sale
This year, the Golf Booster Club will be conducting a golf ball sale to help raise money for both the boys and girls golf teams. The money raised will go towards golf balls and other golf equipment. The deadline to order is February 14. Visit the Booster website (link below) for details.

Registration Fees

Sports-Qualifying Physical

Each student participating in a sport must have an updated and valid sports-qualifying physical on file to register in MyPaymentsPlus (MPP). You can find your most recent physical exam date in your personal information in MPP. Sports physicals are valid for 3 years from the date of exam.

Orono High School Programs
Submit your physical form to the High School Athletics office in one of two ways:

Scholarships & Financial Options

All athletes who are interested in participating in sports should not be discouraged due to cost. Educational Benefits through the Minnesota Department of Education include child nutrition, discounted activity fees, sports fees, internet services, and college preparation. We encourage ALL families that could qualify for educational benefits to apply first before registering for sports or activities. If you are approved for benefits, the discount will automatically be applied in MyPaymentsPlus. Orono Schools maintains complete confidentiality regarding a student’s eligibility status. MSHSL

High school and middle school students are eligible to participate in Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) athletics and activities.

The Minnesota State High School League is organized for the following educational purposes:

To provide, promote, manage and administer a program of activities for students of the member schools on subsection, section and state levels in athletics and fine arts.
To establish uniform and equitable rules for students in extra-curricular activities.
To elevate standards of sportsmanship and to encourage the growth of responsible citizenship among students, member schools and their communities.
To protect students, member schools and their communities from exploitation by special interest groups.
To provide mutual benefit and relief plans for the assistance of students injured in extra-curricular activities in meeting medical and hospital expenses incurred by reason of such injuries.

The MSHSL website provides information about the league itself, each activity and sport, and all tournament information from section brackets to tournament seedings.
