Volleyball-Girls

We ask all players to sign up for four volunteering hours. This is one of our fundraisers for the year and also a great way for the girls to connect with younger volleyball players in the community.

We encourage all players to be active in the summer to best prepare themselves both in skills and in strength to be the best they can for the season. We have opportunities offered both inside and outside of Orono. 

• Spartan Volleyball Training | Tuesday and Thursday nights 5-7 p.m. in Orono High School Gym
• Other Camps and Opportunities in the Metro
• Spartan Power or FitHaus: Strength and conditioning programs

The 2026 season begins on August 17, 2026 with the first week as tryouts. As a reminder, players signing up for volleyball are committing to the program and their team by attending each practice and competition. (Captain's practices will be prior to the season starting and all planning and info. will be sent by captains.)

We will have a theme for each home game for fans to dress up and cheer us on (posted on Instagram). We will also have a serving contest to win an OVB t-shirt during the second and third set. Be one of the first fans to ask for a ticket!

Abby Perrin, Head Coach

Coach Perrin attended St. Francis High School where she played volleyball and ran track all four years. She went on to the College of Saint Benedict, graduating with her degree in mathematics and secondary education. Coach Perrin has accumulated a wealth of coaching experience at schools including Sartell, North Branch, and Orono. Her experience includes coaching middle school, high school, community education, and JO’s 14-17’s. Most recently, she has served as the 9th grade volleyball coach at Orono for the last two seasons.

Laurie Jensen, Varsity Assistant Coach

Laurie Jensen brings over 20 years of volleyball coaching experience at both the varsity and youth/JO levels. A dedicated leader and mentor, she has built successful programs and guided her teams to competitive success throughout her career. In addition to coaching, Laurie has served as a MSHSL volleyball referee for the past 10 years, further deepening her understanding of the game. She is excited to return and work with the Orono athletes and coaches, continuing her commitment to developing strong players on and off the court. 

Kim King, Junior Varsity Coach

Kim graduated from Orono High School and played volleyball for the Spartans. She then went on to play volleyball for Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, IA. She started coaching volleyball at Orono in 1995. Her coaching positions have included youth J.O. teams, 9th grade, B-Squad, Junior Varsity, as well as Varsity Assistant. Kim is currently the club director for Orono JO volleyball and she still enjoys playing volleyball year-round.

Anders is a graduate of Orono High School. While a student at Orono he served as manager for the Spartan volleyball team. He went on to play club volleyball for the University of Minnesota Morris. Over the years he has served in several volleyball coaching roles at Orono High School.

Jess Campbell, 9th Grade Coach

Jess has been playing volleyball for over 10 years, and she’s spent the last two coaching—and absolutely loves it. Volleyball has always been a huge part of her life, and now she gets to share that passion by helping others grow in the sport. Whether it’s building fundamental skills, encouraging teamwork, or just having fun on the court, she’s all about creating a positive, hard working environment where players can thrive. Jess believes in pushing her athletes to be their best while never losing sight of the love for the game.She is so excited to join the Orono Schools Volleyball program and be part of a community that values dedication, growth, and team spirit.

Practice for the 2025 season begins on August 11, 2025. Tryout week is August 11-15, 2025. Practices will be from 3-6 p.m. each day in the high school gym.

Players will need to be court ready by 3 p.m. each day. It is mandatory that players are at tryouts (August 11-15) in order to make a team.
